Approved program providers include those approved by AGD PACE or ADA CERP. These programs can be local or national.
To receive the distinction of becoming an AGD Fellow, you must also complete a separate award application by Dec. 31, along with the required fee of $595. Meeting this deadline assures that you will be considered for the class the summer immediately following the application deadline.
Apply by Dec. 31, 2005, to attend Convocation in Denver, CO. You must pass the exam by Dec. 31, 2005.
Applications received by Dec. 31 are reviewed by the Council on Dental Education by the end of March. You can expect to receive notification by mail of the Council's approval or denial by mid-April. The Council reviews all FAGD award applications and determines whether they meet the requirements and standards set by the Academy. Applications recommended for Fellowship are still subject to approval by the Board of Trustees.

Taking the comprehensive, 400-question exam is one step toward achieving Fellowship. And it can be taken as early as your first year of active membership.
The exam stresses clinical applications of accepted dental knowledge, techniques, and procedures, and consists of multiple-choice questions, administered in two, three-hour sessions. The exam in computer format is offered year-round at Prometric Testing Centers and the paper and pencil version is given at the AGD Annual Meeting.
About 90 percent of our members successfully pass the exam the first time. Our exam study tools can help you prepare.
More information about the Fellowship Exam is available here.
For more than 30 years, the Convocation ceremony held during the Annual Meeting has epitomized the Academy's commitment to excellence in dental education. Each year, we recognize the accomplishment of many Academy members as they receive the prestigious Fellowship and Mastership designations. Families of the awardees, as well as all Academy members and their guests, are invited to attend the ceremony.
