  • Fellowship (FAGD)
If you're seeking the best opportunity to distinguish yourself professionally through quality continuing education, consider Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. Attaining Fellowship is a rigorous process that requires three years of membership in the AGD, passing an exam and culminates with your receiving an award at the convocation ceremony held each year at the Annual Meeting. Since the first 20 AGD Fellows were named in 1962, more than 13,000 dentists have joined their ranks.
  • Mastership (MAGD)
Achieving Mastership is a professional designation within the Academy of General Dentistry beyond FAGD and reflects a general dentist's ongoing commitment to provide quality care through continuing education. A member achieving this distinction has completed a challenging course of hands-on study in 16 dental disciplines, totaling 600 hours of continuing education. More than 1,300 members have gone on to receive Mastership, the highest distinction that a member can achieve. Masters celebrate their professional accomplishment during a Convocation ceremony and at the AGD Gala held each year at the Annual Meeting.
  • ABGD Certification
Are you already an AGD Master?  Have you completed a general practice residency? Either of these accomplishments will open the door for you to become Board Certified in General Dentistry, which promotes advancement in academic or hospital positions and military promotions. Find out board certification study aides, requirements for certification and applications by visiting the ABGD Web site at www.abgd.org.
  • Program Approval
The Program Approval for Continuing Education assists Academy members in identifying and participating in quality continuing dental education. The program provider approval mechanism is an evaluation of the education processes used in designing, planning and implementing continuing education.
